People who have found running, swimming or going to the gym not compelling enough. Zumba® Fitness classes are a great cardio exercise and because they are fun it does not feel like exercise! People of all ages can take up Zumba® Fitness classes and workouts.
How it Works
Zumba® Fitness workouts mixes dance derived from Latin music with step aerobics. It has proven to be an excellent way to get into shape, tone up or lose weight.
Class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility and balance.
Beginners, active older adults and those who have medical or joint problems, recovering from injury or surgery, who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity.
How it Works
The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba® choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.
Class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility and balance and addresses anatomical, physiological and psychological needs.
Being a Zumba® Instructor
When teaching Zumba® Fitness, you don't really know the fitness level of 'all' your students. I find this both exciting and challenging, wishing to deliver the best enjoyable workout at each class to all levels.
That is why all Zumba® Instructors are taught to 'read' their class, and adapt the choreography accordingly, giving a choice of different steps. Hence different instructors have different styles.
Teaching to mixed levels is interesting and stimulating. I love to see how my students improve their step knowledge and fitness. Best of all is watching their individual styles shine through. There's no right or wrong way in Zumba® Fitness just keep moving.
When I'm asked about participation in my classes I'd say...
my Tuesday evening class students are a high energy group but are of mixed levels.
Tuesday morning students are also mixed levels, (not as high impact) but all have been doing Zumba® Fitness for a while and can rock those moves.
Tuesday (mid morning), Wednesday and Thursday morning classes are Zumba Gold® and students require beginner and slower pace routines (it still a great workout and fun!).
In all the classes, some students just step it out, some put everything in and others just do their own thing ;-)
This variety, mixed with enthusiastic students, is why I love teaching Zumba® Fitness.
